ABOUT SAVANNA OPTICALS AND EYECARE

Established in 2018, SAVANNA OPTICALS AND EYECARE has been providing healthcare services to the Northern community for over seven years. We are open every weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays. We are equipped to provide your family with urgent and emergency treatment.

Our family doctors offer a range of medical services and are dedicated to providing you with the care you need. Whether you are looking for a walk-in clinic, pharmacy, or a doctor for your entire family, we are here to help.

OUR OBJECTIVES

We began operations in July 2018, transitioning from Savanna Opticals to Savanna Opticals and Eyecare. From the start, our work has been guided by a social enterprise model built on a cross-compensation approach — allowing us to provide quality eye care for the less privileged without straining their limited resources.

1.Provide High-Quality Eye Care – Deliver accessible, patient-centered services using modern diagnostic and treatment methods.

2.Promote Eye Health Awareness – Educate the public on the importance of regular eye exams and preventive care.

3. Support Underserved Communities – Dedicate a portion of profits to subsidized services or free eye care for low-income and rural populations.

4.Ensure Sustainable Operations – Operate efficiently to maintain financial sustainability while keeping services affordable

5.Foster Community Partnerships – Collaborate with NGOs, schools, and local health providers to extend outreach and impact.

6.Drive Innovation and Training – Invest in staff development and new technologies to continually improve service delivery and expand access.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS

With a dedicated team of 13 clinical and administrative staff, Savanna Opticals and Eyecare has built the capacity to deliver quality services and drive innovation, achieving notable impact in patient care, community outreach, and professional recognition.

Pioneering Glaucoma Diagnosis – In 2019, we introduced advanced diagnostic machines such as the OCT to the five northern regions, revolutionizing glaucoma detection and care.

Recognized Leadership – Our Lead Optometrist received the Forty Under 40 Award in the Health and Wellness category at the 2024 40Under40 Ghana Awards, held at the Kempinski Hotel in September 2024.

Best Eyecare Provider – In the same month, Savanna Opticals and Eyecare was named Best Eyecare Provider in the Northern Region at the Northern Business Awards.

Community Partnerships – We collaborate with various NGOs to provide free eye screenings to underserved communities and individuals.

Supporting Children’s Welfare – Since 2021, we have volunteered as the official eye health provider for the Tamale Children’s Home.

World Sight Day Impact – Every October, we provide free eye screenings for residents of Tamale and surrounding areas in commemoration of World Sight Day.

Consistent Public Education – Since 2018, we have offered free eye health education on three radio stations every weekday morning.

Free Consultations for Children – Every Saturday since 2018, we provide free eye health consultations for children.
